Undergraduate Degree Program​

Jubilee University currently offers the Bachelor of Church Music degree program for freshmen and transfer students.

In order to successfully complete a Bachelor degree from Jubilee University, students need to complete the Bachelor’s Degree Core consisting of a distribution of courses from the liberal arts and sciences including required biblical, textual, and historical studies called General Education and Bible Core; a group of required theological, professional courses called Theological Studies Core; and required classes in Chapel and Christian Service. These requirements apply to all majors, while differences in the required choices from the General Education section may vary based on pre-requisite courses for the major. In rare cases parts of the bachelor’s degree core are waived for specific majors.

Bachelor of Church Music Program - Online

The Bachelor of Church Music (B.C.M.) program at Jubilee University equips students to serve faithfully in church music ministry through the integration of biblical truth, theological understanding, and musical studies.

Students gain a solid foundation in Scripture, worship, and the history of church music, learning how music can communicate faith and strengthen the life of the Church. The program fosters both academic excellence and spiritual growth, preparing graduates to lead and serve effectively in a variety of ministry settings.

Program Goals

In the context of Jubilee’s mission, students who complete the music program will be able to:

  1. Examine and articulate a comprehensive understanding of the Bible and Christian doctrine as the foundation for faith and ministry.
  2. Apply music theory, musicianship, and performance skills to support worship and ministry.
  3. Analyze the theological, historical, and practical foundations of worship to develop biblically grounded worship practices.
  4. Implement worship leadership strategies, team coordination, and worship technology to facilitate worship in diverse contexts.
  5. Evaluate the historical development of church music and its role in shaping worship practices.
  6. Demonstrate critical thinking, conduct research, and apply interdisciplinary problem-solving.
  7. Develop effective communication and cultural awareness for ministry and leadership in diverse contexts.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate students must fulfill the following Bachelor’s degree requirements for graduation:

* Students are subject to the major requirements of the Catalog of the year in which they entered.

TIME LIMITS

The Bachelor of Church Music degree program usually is completed in four years of full-time study, regardless of the first major chosen. All requirements for the degree must be completed within six years of the initial date of enrollment, except under extenuating circumstances. Students who have not completed the requirements within the six years period must apply to the Registrar’s Office for a continuation for each year beyond this period, up to a maximum of eight years from the initial date of enrollment.
